Welcome to my blog, where I write about all manner of things...

running and writing

After a hiatus of two weeks (due to a coldy/fluey thing) I ran my final long run of the training on Friday, completing 10.5 miles by doing loops around the Barrow Gurney reservoirs in 1 hour 56 minutes. Everything was fine up until the last half a mile, which was really quite painful, but then I hadn't had the best preparation for it and seem to have recovered fairly well. Anyway, I feel pretty confident and am looking forward to Sunday with only a little trepidation. All good. Roll on Cardiff.

My justgiving page can be reached here or through the widget to the right.

I was sitting in a (for once) not at all tedious workshop today and had an epiphany during the only boring bit of the whole session (I was doodling piccies and ideas).

The upshot is that the plans I have been making for NaNoWriMo in terms of plotline, etc have been shelved and another story has taken its place.

There are multiple reasons for this, the main one being that I just wasn't 'feeling' the whole thing and had some problems with some elements of it that I wasn't sure how to address.

The replacement storyline is actually one that has been gestating for a long time, and has arisen out of a recent experiment and said long term project, with a twist. The idea and shift in perspective allows me more freedom to do what I always wanted to to do and will effectively form an alternative accompanying narrative to the other body of work that has evolved over the years. It is, at once, both more personal and more approachable, and infinitely more exciting than what I was originally going to write this year for NaNo.

I have a strong feeling that this will flow much more easily than last year's effort, which is always a good thing. I shall post excerpts from it as I go, both here and on my NaNoWriMo page.
